His lecture theme is The immortal language: why C++ still matters. The C++ programming language has been around since the 1980s and is still the tool of choice for doing high-performance systems programming. In this talk, Matej will talk about the team’s decision to go with C++ as the main language for the Omnisearch engine and share practical advice for engineers thinking about the same route. The talk will conclude with a practical case study - optimizing the search engine to reduce the memory footprint by a whopping 80%.
